Learn in this article how you can generate donations with minimal effort and without any programming knowledge using the e-commerce tool "Donation."

With just a few clicks, you can create a campaign that interested individuals can support with a donation easily and quickly. You can link to the donation campaign in emails, print media, social media, and other channels, or embed it directly into your website.

You can configure the donation page in Payrexx according to your preferences, displaying it either as a minimal donation page or as an advanced donation page with detailed suggestions for donation amounts and purposes.

Donation Page From the Customer's Perspective

The configuration options for donation pages in Payrexx are diverse. The following example shows a donation page where donors can choose between three predefined amounts or set their own amount:

Setting Up a Donation Page

The following section demonstrates how to set up your own donation page in Payrexx.

  1. To get started, you first need to log in to your Payrexx account.

  2. Next, click on Donation in the main menu.

  3. Now, click on "Create Campaign".

A new page will open, consisting of four different tabs.

Tab 1: Description

In the first tab, you can define the following content:

  • Title: Set the title that will appear at the top of the donation page.

  • Description: Enter a description text (we recommend 2-3 sentences) that will be displayed below the title, describing the donation campaign. The text can be formatted, and images can be inserted.

By clicking on "Multilingual," both the title and description can be created in multiple languages.

Tab 2: Payment details

In the second tab, you can define donation intervals, options for donation amounts, and purposes for donations:

1. Donation settings

  • Donation interval: Define the intervals (one-time, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually) at which donations can be made. It is possible to select multiple options.

  • Currency: Set whether the donation campaign should be displayed in a specific currency or if the customer can choose the currency themselves.

To offer recurring donations, a payment provider that supports subscription payments must be activated. For more information, please refer to the Payment Provider Feature Matrix.

2. Amount options

Under "Amount options," you can optionally specify the donation amounts you want to offer. The following example shows a donation page with three different amounts, including descriptions of what each amount will be used for.

By checking the appropriate box, you can allow the donor to define a custom amount:

2. Donation purpose

Optionally, you can inquire about the purpose of the donation. To enable this feature, check the box "Ask for donation designation" and define which options you would like to provide to the donor:

Tab 3: Contact details

In the "Contact details" tab, you can specify which fields will be displayed in the donation form and must be filled out by the user:

The following functions are available:

  • Add new field: Click on the desired field in the list on the right and drag it to the left into the form.

  • Remove field: Hover over the desired field and click the trash bin icon.

  • Edit field: Hover over the desired field and click the edit icon.

  • Define field as mandatory: Hover over the desired field, click, and check the "Mandatory Field" checkbox.

Sending donation receipts

To provide donors with the appropriate donation receipts, you can use the custom fields on the right side of the screen. Add a new field of type "Checkbox" or "Radiobox" to your donation form and configure it as follows:

  1. Choose a title like "I would like to receive a donation receipt".

  2. Create the two options "Yes" and "No".

This way, you can send donation receipts to all donors who request one. Please note that the creation and distribution of the receipts must be done outside of Payrexx.

Tab 4: Advanced

In the final tab, the donation form can be further customized to meet your specific needs:

  1. Appearance: If you have activated multiple Look & Feel profiles, you can select which one your donation campaign should be displayed in. To create Look & Feel profiles, navigate in the main menu of Payrexx to Settings > Look & Feel.

  2. Advanced payment settings: Choose whether you want to enable payments in the donation form with all active payment providers or if you would like to restrict the payment options to one or more specific providers (e.g., Payrexx Pay or Payrexx Pay Plus).

  3. Messages and redirecttion: Depending on whether a donation was successful or failed, you can display different messages to the donor or redirect them to a specific page.

Further down in the "Advanced" tab, you can define the email that the donor will receive after completing their donation payment:

  1. In addition to a subject line and the option to send the email to additional recipients via BCC (blind carbon copy), you have the ability to compose your own email text. You can utilize various placeholders to personalize the message. The placeholder [DONATION_DETAILS], which displays the donation information, must be included.

  2. If you are not satisfied with the created email content, you can revert it to the original message at any time by clicking on "Reset message."

  3. Clicking on "Show placeholders" will display a list of all placeholders that you can use in the email.

  4. By clicking the "Send test e-mail" button, a field will open where you can enter any email address to send a test email to that address.

Don't forget to save the created donation campaign by clicking the green "Save" button in the bottom right corner.
