## General Information

Discover Card is a credit card issued by Discover Financial Services and is part of the Discover network.

The card is issued exclusively in the United States. However, since it is linked to various networks, tourists from the USA can also use their Discover Card internationally.

From a merchant's perspective, this payment method is particularly interesting for retail and the tourism industry. E-commerce shops with international customers should also consider offering Discover Card as a payment option.

### Discover Global Network

The Discover Card is part of the Discover Global Network, the fastest-growing payment network in the world. In addition to the Discover Card, the Discover Global Network includes [Diners Club International](https://docs.payrexx.com/merchant/english/payment-provider/payrexx-pay/payment-methods/diners-club-international) and numerous alliance partners such as Elo from Brazil, TROY from Turkey, and RuPay from India.

The network itself comprises 345 million cardholders and spans over 200 countries and regions.

## Fees

To receive payments via Discover Card, simply activate the payment method in your Payrexx account by following these steps:

* Navigate to **Payment Providers** in the main menu of your merchant administration.
* Click on "Configure" next to Payrexx Pay Plus:

* Scroll down a bit and check the box next to "Discover Card".
* Complete the configuration by clicking "Save" at the bottom right of the page.

The payment method is activated. Your customers can now pay with their Discover Card credit card.

## Payment from the Customer's Perspective

Customers use their Discover Card in the same way as other cards: they select Discover Card as the payment method in the online shop, enter their card details, and complete their purchase.

In-store, they can use the card reader, either contactless, via chip reader, or magnetic stripe.

### Why do we need the customer's e-mail address?

As a regulated payment service provider, Payrexx is required to collect certain minimum information to identify the paying customer in order to comply with the requirements of the card schemes and acquiring banks.

In addition, the customer’s e-mail address is required for operational and regulatory reasons, including but not limited to:

* Fraud prevention and risk checks
* 3-D Secure authentication processes
* Handling of chargebacks
* Contacting the customer in case of payment issues
