Paylink Subscriptions

This article is about the use of subscriptions within the e-commerce tool "Paylink."

To offer subscriptions within the "Paylink" tool, you must use a payment provider that supports this functionality. We recommend Payrexx Pay for merchants in Switzerland. You can find out which payment providers support subscriptions in the following article:

Setting Up a Paylink with a Subscription Function

To create a subscription-type Paylink, follow these instructions:

1. Navigate to Paylink in the main menu of your Payrexx account.

2. Click the green "Create" button in the top right corner.

3. Configure the Paylink using the instructions in the corresponding support article.

Subscription-specific settings

Scroll down to the "Payment information" section and configure the following settings:

1. Payment type

Select "Subscription" as the payment type. Please note that only one payment type can be used. A mix of one-time payments, tokenizations, pre-authorizations, and subscriptions is not possible.

If the "Subscription" option is not available, it means you have not activated a compatible payment provider. In this case, use our features matrix to check which payment providers support subscriptions.

2. Subscription settings

In the subscription settings, you define the following criteria:

1. Billing period: The intervals at which the subscription amount will be debited from the customer.

2. Subscription term: The total duration for which the subscription will run.

3. Cancellation period: How far in advance the customer must cancel the subscription.

Please note that a subscription will automatically renew for the defined subscription duration if it is not canceled.

Explanation using an example

Subscription settings in a Paylink

With these subscription settings, the timeline could look like this:

• 11.07.2026: The customer concludes/purchases the subscription.

• 11.07.2026: The customer is charged the amount for the first time.

• 11.08.2026: The customer is charged the amount for the second time.

• 11.09.2026: The customer is charged the amount for the third time.

• 11.10.2026: The customer is charged the amount for the fourth time.

• 11.11.2026: The customer is charged the amount for the fifth time.

• 25.11.2026: The customer cancels their subscription.

• 11.12.2026: The customer is charged the amount one last time.

If the customer had not canceled in the example above, the subscription would have continued running until 11.07.2028. After that, it would no longer be renewed (based on a subscription duration of 2 years).
