# Deleting a Merchant Account

Deleting a merchant account requires two steps: first, the merchant must be [unpublished](#unpublish-a-merchant), and then it can be [deleted](#deleting-a-merchant).

### Unpublishing a merchant

To unpublish a merchant account, navigate to **Merchants** in the main menu of your Payrexx account and search for the merchant you want to deactivate.

Hover over the corresponding row and click the following symbol to unpublish the merchant:

### Deleting a merchant

In the next step, the merchant account can be deleted. To do this, hover over the corresponding row and click the delete icon:

The merchant account has now been deleted.

After choosing to delete the user, you can select from different deletion options:

* **Temporarily delete:** Removes the instance from view but retains the data.
* **Permanently delete:** Removes the instance permanently. This action cannot be undone.
